We’re honored to share that Claire Lidell Hanna, Founder & Lead Designer of Relish Gardens was featured in The Seattle Times alongside a group of incredibly talented Pacific Northwest designers.
The article explores how garden pathways do more than connect spaces—they help tell a story.
“I think of a pathway as a way to take people through the space. You may be trying to evoke a sense of smell or a color palette. For example, if I’m using a certain plant in that pathway, I’m going to repeat it early on to create interest at the beginning and have an anchor that’s repeated. I use the same color or element to bring the eye along — first eyes, then feet.”

At Relish Gardens, this kind of intentional design is at the heart of what we do. Whether we’re weaving paths through native plantings or incorporating found materials into a textured mosaic underfoot, our goal is always to help people experience their gardens—not just see them.
